A little off topic from our usual programming but a remarkably high profile absconding story to share. Yesterday at AA HQ we watched a new documentary called “This Is Paris”. In this film Ms Paris Hilton describes being a victim of institutional violence for many of her teen years, at the hands of various boarding schools for ‘troubled kids’. Also documented is  her valiant efforts in escaping from many of them.

The AA team think this is an important opportunity for a broader section of the community to connect to such hardship, in viewing such a high profile person candidly sharing these experiences. We hope there is increased attention to the long last impacts of abduction, seclusion, physical and chemical restraint that touches far too many lives in institutional systems.

Keep running away from places that make you feel hurt or unsafe, keeping bringing these harms into the light.
